Are you changing this with the Admin Account you make upon creating the forum? if not you should be. To change Admin Groups of admin, you need to have the default Administrator Group.

Also, moved to board support. IV is not a Product of IPS.

It turns out, I cannot change my own primary group but if I create another account with the System Admin group I can change my groups if you get what I mean

If you are using the Default Admin account created when making the forum, that is normal. This stops other Admins from removing the Owners Admin Privs.

So how come I cannot change my primary group after giving myself the System Administrator secondary group?

The standard account works like that, even if it has the same secondary group, it stops you changing primary no matter what, this is just a safety precaution. It recommended you don't use the main account as your main account, keep the Administrator separate.

I have the Main account just as a Root Admin, my own account is a registered one I've given Administrator. If that makes sense.
