Wordpress is getting more and more popular these days. For 2-3 years, I was working with Wordpress because of its plugin base. But I couldn't stand it. Something always goes wrong... The admin interface sucks. To me WP caused headaches. And if I want to get a site up and running quickly, you need to install tons of plugins to make it acceptable. So I left Wordpress.

If you've been working with HTML/CSS and you don't need a lot of things for which you'd need plugins, I recommend OctoberCMS. You are going to love it. You can learn to use it in a few hours. Search for OctoberCMS tutorials on youtube. Ivan Doric has some very good ones.

I chose always 2 types of website building one is Xenoforo and the other one is IPs.
I recomend you both of them becauese they are easy to use.
Xenoforo license is cheaper han IPS, but IPs has more support and more styles and themes.
Here you have the link of XenoForo: https://xenforo.com/
Here you have the link of IPS: https://invisioncommunity.com/
Also you can use wordPress.
