I was wondering what everyone's opinion on home hosting vs paying someone to host and what everyone using as a server box (Pictures to show off would be nice)

I personally host at home due to me not having the money to pay for a host and threw together an old prebuilt pc with a I-Pentium i3 dual core processor and some old DDR3 gaming ram (16GB) and it runs my game servers, team speak, and website well enough.

Bring on the battleships!

I think you spend more on electric power than the cost of a server

I don't think the cost of the power is really that big as long as its not taking up a huge portion of your utility bill, it all depends on your box. I'm not for sure how much mine cost but it should be in the realm of a normal home computer due to it being a re-purposed home computer.

A normal PC, running all day 1,2 kw/day. (much less standby)
That is a monthly 40kw +-
Hosting 5-7 U $ S Monthly

Maybe I'm wrong, sure there are tutorials on Google to calculate consumption.
And the cost of KW depends on each country and should be seen on the bill
