I started with C then C++. When I graduated college I learn to do more on PHP. Definitely JAVA is  a must when you go development.

Javascript is probably my favourite, especially recently.
You can do so much with Angular and Node, making some crazy front end and backend applications and panels with JS.
Maybe I'm biased as a web guy, but JS was super fun to learn and use, PHP has always scared me, Im paranoid there's security issues with my code all the time due to how PHP is.
But that's just me though.

Hard choice.. I've started out with learning C# on school, but kinda wandered off to C++, and now I'm in school again learning Java.

I think I'm still going with C++.

I have voted with C++, but I doubt PHP and JS are programming languages.
They should share the same category with HTML, CSS, etc.

You're right, technically they're scripting languages. However HTML is markup, which is another category.

I've been using Java a lot recently trying to create my own RuneScape Private Server but I just gave up on it as it is no longer as popular as it was before so I went to making forums for FiveM servers who need them and I started learning PHP now.

Personally, I use Python, PHP, C#, but slowly I start to learn JS and Ruby, recently in the market I noticed that there are often announcements of wanted JS programmers.

I think C# is the best in my opinion seems more beginner friendly and more documented than c++.

For me it has to be Python, so versatile and easy to learn and teach, also very useful in Security/Forensics (Has a lot of security modules in it).

I am working as .NET Developer in small company coding just modules for CRM program and for that, C# is cool. Simply, no thinking about simple functions etc.
But... I am not just .NET Dev and in my opinion every good dev isn't just one lang guy.

When I was child, I was learning firsly Pascal, after that PHP, SQL, C++ and when I was growing just investigate other langs as Python, C#, Java, JS (also NodeJS), Go lang etc.
And I think every lang is good for something else. JS for front-end or simply back-end, Python for bots and machine learning, C# for Back-end (ASP.NET), business development (like modules in CRM), games or simply "day" apps in WPF, Java back-end and games, C/C++/Go for scripts, robots, devices. PHP... I don't like PHP TBH :D

Python is definitely the language I like the most, easy to learn and to work on and at the same time such a powerful tool, there are a lot of open source projects you can learn from and contribute to.
